🎨CRAFTS🎨 Making A Custom Vintage Polly Pocket Funko Pop From The '90s
I can’t believe that a Polly Pocket Funko Pop doesn’t exist! Seriously, they have Funkos for everything. But Polly? Nope!
Since I’m crafty, I wanted to challenge myself by making my own custom one. I’ve had this idea for a while but have been avoiding it because I knew how tedious it would be.
Materials
Polymer Clay
Sculpting Tools
Super Glue
Aluminum Foil
Circle Cookie Cutter
Clay Oven
Steps
I shaped the Funko head with aluminum foil so as not to waste clay. Then I wrapped beige clay around it. I prebaked it for 10 minutes.
I rolled yellow clay into a long noodle and swirled it to make a bunch of spirals. This will be Polly’s hair. I attached them to the head.
I rolled pink clay into a short noodle and shaped it to create her head band. I attached it to the head. I prebaked the whole head for 10 minutes.
I rolled 2 black clay chunks into balls and flattened them out to create the eyes. I attached them to the head.
I shaped a tiny triangle for the nose and attached it to the head. I prebaked the whole head again for 10 minutes.
For the body, I made a short cylinder out of pink polymer clay. I created the signature Polly “hinge” by taking a pointy tool and running it along the clay. I prebaked it for 10 minutes.
For the puffy sleeves, I rolled two chunks of pink clay into balls and attached them to the body.
For the arms, I took some beige clay and rolled it into short noodles. I attached these to the sleeves.
For the bowtie, I shaped two small triangles out of blue clay and a tiny circle as the center of the bowtie. I attached this to the body. I baked the whole body for 30 minutes.
For the shoes, I took blue clay and rolled them into ovals. I used the pointy tool again to create marks in the shoes.
For the legs, I took beige clay and rolled them into noodles. I cut them down to my desired length and attached them to the shoes. I prebaked the entire legs/shoes piece for 10 minutes.
For the platform she stands on, I rolled out a sheet of blue clay and cut a circle using a cookie cutter. I attached the legs/shoes piece to this platform. I baked this entire piece for 30 minutes.
Finally, I glued the head, body, and leg pieces together to finish the Polly Funko!
Nonetheless, I did it. She’s completely handmade and sculpted with polymer clay.
The best part is she stands on her own! You almost can’t tell that it’s not an official Funko. I’m every happy with how she turned out.
