🎨CRAFTS🎨 Making A Miniature Jeffree Star x Shane Dawson Conspiracy Palette
In tribute to two of my favorite YouTubers, I made this miniature Conspiracy Palette by Jeffree Star x Shane Dawson. I tried to snag myself one, but they sold out so fast! So this creation is my way of feeling like I have the real thing.
Materials
Thick glossy photo paper
Polymer clay
Super glue
Mod Podge
Silver adhesive vinyl
Black acrylic paint
Polycrylic varnish
Adobe Illustrator
Cricut machine
Basic crafting tools
Steps
I vectored the design of the box on Adobe Illustrator. This part took the longest because I had to do some geometry (my best math subject in school, unsurprisingly).
I cut the designs out with my Cricut machine. I could’ve cut them out manually with an x-acto knife, but I welcome our robot overlords.
I folded the cut pieces to form the box, then glued these pieces together. This part was tricky because the super glue got everywhere. Waiting for the glue to dry was kind of a nightmare.
I painted the inside of the box with black acrylic paint so that you can’t see the white paper through the crevices. It looks more professional this way.
For the mirror, I cut out a piece of silver adhesive vinyl and stuck it on the paper. I then glued the mirror’s frame on top so it looks more realistic. The mirror is one of my favorite things, especially the wee little star and triangle logos.
Now the fun part: the actual palette! This was my favorite thing to make because I wasn’t sure how I was going to approach this but it ended up working out. I made each shade out of polymer clay, laid them flat, and cut them into squares. I laid the palette frame over them and…voila!
To take it even further, I embossed the palette with a tiny triangle stamp that I’m so glad I had. The actual full-sized palette has these intricate icons embossed on it but for this miniature, I’m doing a triangle to represent the illuminati theme and Shane’s logo.
For the latches, I also made them out of polymer clay. I shaped them into ovals and baked them along with the palette.
The letters were tricky as well because they’re so tiny and Mod Podge didn’t love me that day. It could’ve been neater but I did my best! I used super glue to top off the box with Shane’s logo.
I glued the mirror, palette, and latches onto the box. It was so satisfying doing these because this whole time, I had the urge to just hurry up and put the stuff in the box already!
For the final touches, I coated the exterior in Polycrylic to give it a nice shine. This also helps hide any blemishes caused by those darned super glue and Mod Podge.
Overall, this was super challenging for me because it’s the first miniature I’ve ever made. I’ve made some miniatures out of polymer clay before, but this is the first time I’m actually replicating something and making it look realistic.
By the way, it took me about 5 tries to get this right. I had so many other pieces that ended up in the trash. I’m also the type to just go all in with my good materials instead of doing trials on scrap materials so I definitely wasted some valuable paper and ink.
But hey, craft big or go home! In this case, craft small.
